As the temperatures drop and the holiday season heats up, don’t we deserve a little something extra to help us celebrate? A fantastic holiday cup of coffee will undoubtedly keep our energy buzzing, but why not pour in an extra dose of fun (a.k.a alcohol) and keep those spirits extra high?

Many of these recipes are fantastic year-round, but we’ve compiled seven of our favorite boozy coffee drinks created with the winter chill in mind. Let’s get drinking!

Irish Coffee

The Irish Coffee (pictured at top) is a wintertime staple that’s become an international classic for a reason. Simple and delicious with a serious bite there’s no doubt that you’ll warm up in no time. Make sure to make it the real deal by only using whiskey made in the Emerald Isle like Jameson, Tullamore D.E.W. or Bushmill’s.

Ingredients

2 tsp Brown sugar
8 oz Coffee
1 1/2 oz of your favorite Irish whiskey
Whipped Cream, optional

Directions

Pour hot coffee into a glass. Blend in brown sugar and stir until dissolved. Pour in Irish whiskey and stir until well blended. If desired, add a dollop of whipped cream for extra sweetness.

amaretto coffee recipe

Amaretto Coffee

Searching for a simple drink with a touch of sophistication? Then you can’t go wrong with this nutty holiday pick-me-up. Though it tastes great with most varieties of coffee, we especially love it with darker brews like our deep, smoky Captain’s Roast.

Ingredients
8 oz Hot coffee
1 1/2 oz. Amaretto liqueur
Whipped cream, optional
Cocoa powder, optional

Directions

Pour hot coffee into a cup or glass. Add the Amaretto liquor and thoroughly blend. If desired, top with whipped cream and a dash of cocoa. Some also enjoy it with cinnamon or almond slivers.

1/2 oz. Simple syrup
1 oz. Vodka
1 oz. Espresso or strong cold brew

Place all ingredients into a metal shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Pour into a chilled martini glass. For an extra dose of fanciness, dust lightly with crushed coffee beans.

 hot buttered rum coffee

Hot Buttered Rum with Coffee

This toasty, traditional winter recipe is fun to make—and even more fun to drink. Patience is necessary to let the spiced butter fully harden, but make a big enough batch and you can enjoy this concoction far past the first thaw of the season.

Ingredients

8 tbsp Salted butter
1 cup Brown sugar
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Ground cloves
1/2 tsp Ground ginger
1/4 tsp Ground nutmeg
4 cups Hot coffee
2 oz. Dark rum
2 oz. Butterscotch schnapps
Splash of Half & half

Directions

Beat the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and nutmeg in a small bowl until smooth and creamy. Chill in the refrigerator 20-30 minutes or until fully hardened.

Scoop a heaping spoonful of spiced butter into a coffee mug. Pour coffee over butter and stir until butter completely melts. Add rum and schnapps and mix. Finish with a splash of half & half and a dash of nutmeg.
